Lysbüchel school building honored
Our Lysbüchel school building was honored on Friday evening by the cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Basel-Stadt as part of the «Auszeichnung Gutes Bauen 2023»
The cantons of BL and BS jointly organized the award for good building for the seventh time. A total of 248 projects were submitted and 23 projects were honored. The works were judged by a jury of experts from across Switzerland and aimed to demonstrate excellence in terms of building culture, urban development, architecture and sustainability.
We are incredibly happy that our school building is among the outstanding projects.

The Lysbüchel elementary school is the first building block in the urban development of the "Volta Nord" site. The former Coop warehouse was converted into an elementary school with space for twelve classes and two kindergartens with rooms for the day structure. The rational, industrial look is reminiscent of the origins of the changing neighborhood and building. The high load-bearing capacity of a warehouse and the wide extension anticipated in the 1950s were good prerequisites for the decision to convert the building instead of replacing it.
Until November 17, 2023, the public can view all the awarded projects in Basel on Theaterplatz, as well as in the atrium of the Department of Construction and Transport of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, Münsterplatz 11 and in Liestal in Stedtli.
