Focus

Demands and technologies in the construction industry have changed considerably in recent decades. Only those who are willing to improve their expertise and competencies on a continuous level can hope to remain innovative. We achieve this through internal communities that deal intensively with relevant focal issues.

We are proud of our past, but our passion belongs to the future. Innovation is the engine that helps to shape this passion, ensuring that the ever more complex requirements of planning and construction are addressed with the attention they deserve.

The future of architecture is no longer primarily influenced by that which we do – but in particular by that which we do not do. Resources are limited in this world, particularly in an environmental context. Important architectural questions such as energy consumption, materials science and building services are no longer purely spatial and aesthetic considerations, but tasks involving a high degree of technical complexity that have a major impact beyond the field of architecture.

Digitisation and environmental issues have raised architecture to a higher level where new technologies and environmentally compatible concepts are comprehensively merged. These observations clearly demonstrate that we need a new structure to understand a design process that integrates digital technology and the sustainability concept.

The relevance of these issues for the future of architecture is addressed in focus groups (our so-called communities) and then presented for discussion.

Focus group: Sustainability – Especially good buildings

We are convinced that sustainable solutions can only be achieved if an architectural project is appreciated as an integrated, unique, contextual and transparent process that, from the initial project phase onwards, is the result of cooperation between all players.

Focus group: VDC / BIM digitisation

We can explore the future of architecture further through the aid of digitisation. Integrated planning and transparent communications enable us to meet the requirements of our clients and planning partners.

Through a practice-oriented approach, our Alpha team examines and tests the use of different tools in ongoing projects and continually improves our methodology. Our commitment in Switzerland and our international networks mean that we set new standards in the development and processing of projects.

Community healthcare – building for health

Existing hospital infrastructures have to meet changing requirements, while developments in medical technology and digitalisation are moving at a breathtaking pace: trends that pose enormous challenges for everyone involved. The functional transfer of services from inpatient to outpatient provision means that building structures must be both fit-for-purpose and flexible.

Planning and building healthcare infrastructures to ensure long lifetimes and scope for flexible expansion is a demanding and complex undertaking. It requires a holistic approach to all the tasks involved.
