IB Basel is pleased with the completion of the residential development in Wetzikon

Fifty-four new apartments were built on two plots of land in the municipality of Wetzikon, close to the Kempten railway station.

The town is shaped by a heterogeneous development structure. Almost every building is set back from the streets and situated on land covered by vegetation, frequently trees. In the interaction with the heterogeneous development structure, green spaces and tree populations are emphasised and thus effectively portray the town’s character.

The layout condenses the existing landscape qualities of the environment so that they establish an identity for the new residential development: The tree population is preserved and enhanced to the extent possible. It surrounds the resulting park-like arrangement with private gardens and the jointly used central plaza. This “clearing” is bordered by three, basically square buildings, the entrances of which are facing the plaza. The 5- to 6-story buildings with their clear lines define the plaza and create views and an outlook of the environs and the trees.
