Our project “Jeunesse” is the winner of the competition for the restoration and extension of the Charmilles and Charles-Giron schools in Geneva. The winning proposal “Jeunesse” seeks to recompose the site as a coherent whole, organizing the relationships between its different components and establishing a structured, adaptable, and welcoming framework.
The approach builds on continuity with the existing buildings, drawing on their original logic to reveal their contemporary relevance, in a return to the founding principles of the 1960s project. The intervention aims to “preserve material and spatial qualities” while enhancing performance and comfort.
The jury highlighted the quality of this approach, describing it as both refined and pragmatic, as well as the efficiency and modularity of the proposed organization.
Outdoor spaces are profoundly reconfigured to become places in their own right, capable of supporting multiple uses. Their transformation improves the legibility of circulation and significantly increases the proportion of vegetated areas, as part of a structuring school park strategy.
The project asserts a strong environmental dimension, based on the preservation and optimization of existing elements, reuse, and a reduction in carbon impact through a lightweight structure and a measured intervention.
