On the edge of Bethesda Park, three point block apartment buildings are being developed. The protagonist of the emerging ensemble is Villa Burckhardt-Merian, which is listed in the cantonal inventory of historic monuments.

The design seeks a careful balance that allows the four volumes to interact while giving the newly defined outdoor space an independent spatial quality. In both construction and expression, the three point block buildings adopt a more restrained and utilitarian character than the stately Villa Burckhardt-Merian.

The wooden buildings, constructed from pressure-treated timber, visually align the point-access buildings with the former service structures surrounding the villa, while simultaneously asserting a distinct and self-confident architectural identity. Robust and precise detailing lends the timber construction a sense of quality that emerges directly from the material and the construction logic itself.

In the outdoor space, the entrances are oriented toward the villa and address the newly formed square. Together with the mature trees and seating elements, this creates a place that functions as a neighborhood square and offers a setting for social interaction and encounter.
