Main Building, International Organisation Headquarters

The headquarters of the International Organisation was originally constructed in the 1960s by the architect Jean Tschumi. After more than 50 years of operation, a major refurbishment is now planned to enable the International Organisation to continue its activities in this building.

The main objectives of the refurbishment of the building are:

– the renovation of technical installations
– upgrading the thermal performance of the building envelope
– upgrading the workspaces and their operational functionalities

From the point of view of the technical challenges (facade refurbishment, light incidence, material resistance), the installations will meet the current regulations whilst respecting the structural constraints of a building dating from the 60s. The elements of the envelope will be significantly improved and will fulfil the governmental requirements of «Perspectives 2025» leaving the original architectural essence remains untouched. The reinforcement of the facade structure will respond to these complex requirements while preserving its characteristic architectural qualities. The interior finishes will be fully refurbished to provide a working environment in line with today's requirements.
