IB was commissioned as the General Planner to renovate the Publica (federal pension fund) head office, located at Eigerstrasse 57 in Bern. As part of the architectural services rendered, IB also planned the interior design and furnishing.
What the client wanted was a workplace designed to fit the current era, which would involve reconfiguring the existing cell structure or single and double offices into a multispace office. Employees were also involved in the process of restructuring the workplaces and IB led the related user workshops.
How should work be done? Which zones are needed? How will the workflow work? Where should the noisier and quieter elements respectively be arranged? The employees also had the chance to have their say in the choice of materials and colours.
Ceiling sales are now used as a means of cooling the office floors, while the level of lighting and fire protection is also commensurate with present-day requirements. The result is a seamless renovation concept, including office and reception space, a cafeteria and a flexible meeting room complex.
