Honoring the Authors of the Award-Winning Entries in the Third International Ideas Competition
The winners of the third edition of UTOPIA were honored yesterday at a ceremony held at the Swiss Architecture Museum (S AM). The international ideas competition is open to students and this year explored the theme “NOW !”
The nearly 60 submissions reveal a generation deeply engaged with the social, environmental, and political challenges of our time. Many focus on questions of connection and belonging, proposing new ways of living together. A recurring theme is the growing sense of isolation associated with digitalization and ongoing societal change.
Another highlight of the evening was a panel discussion on “NOW!”, featuring Sibilla Pollini, one of the prize winners, together with jury members Valentin Rilliet, a visual artist based in Zurich, and Yuma Shinohara, curator at the S AM Swiss Architecture Museum.
The evening concluded with an animated reception.
The winning projects and shortlisted entries will be on display from September 4 to 11 at Domushaus, Pfluggässlein 3, Basel, insight and out.
