Topping-out ceremony marks milestone at DS Bellevue
The project team recently celebrated a major milestone at the DS Bellevue project in Thun, marking the completion of the structural shell and the start of interior construction with a traditional topping-out ceremony and a shared meal.
Representing the client, Jörg Eichhorn of Concepts Development AG thanked the contractors, craftspeople, business partners, and design team for their commitment and collaboration throughout the project. We are serving as construction project manager and lead construction supervisor for the building’s transformation. Façade work is currently progressing alongside the first and second phases of the interior fit-out. With numerous trades working simultaneously on site, the project has entered one of its most dynamic and complex stages. The approximately 42-year-old former Swisscom building at Gewerbestrasse 15 in Thun is undergoing a comprehensive transformation. The client’s objective is to modernize and expand the property while adapting it for new uses. Designed by BHSF Architekten, the project will introduce a mix of commercial and residential functions, including attractive new housing.
The upper three floors of the existing building were demolished and replaced with four new stories constructed in sustainable timber. Once completed, the development will provide approximately 54 apartments. The five lower levels, extending from the second basement to the second floor, will be retained and repurposed for commercial, storage, and building services space.
