The Lysbüchel school building opens its doors and IB is pleased to give you a guided tour.
The break time above the roofs of Basel, in the three-storey climbing tower or in the temporary urban wasteland is over too quickly, and the school bell announcing the next lesson has rung loudly. The Lysbüchel school building represents the first, central urban block of Volta Nord urban development.
The former Coop warehouse has been converted into a primary school building, which provides twelve classes and two kindergartens with spaces for day care. The existing building was dismantled down to the load-bearing structure and raised by two storeys. Peculiar traits are represented by the all-round walkways, the large terraces of around 100 m2 recreation space per floor, a dynamic external staircase and a climbing net that spans three floors. A two-storey auditorium and the school library are located on the upper floors.
