On April 28, 2026, Vaudoise Assurances inaugurated Le Cèdre, its historic headquarters in Lausanne, following an extensive renovation project led by our firm as architect and general planner.
Designed in 1956 by Jean Tschumi, the building is a major work of Swiss modernist architecture and is listed as being of national significance. Avant-garde in both function and aesthetics, it brings together architecture, design, art, and functionality in a visionary concept that remains relevant today.
Winner of the invited architectural competition held in 2020, our project “Un moment charnière” is based on a precise reading of the existing structure and a thorough heritage study. The intervention seeks to reactivate the building’s original qualities—flexibility, daylight, and structural rationality—while adapting it to contemporary uses and to the Worksmart@Vaudoise approach.
Circulation areas and the connecting spaces between the two wings of the building were rethought to support new ways of working. The targeted removal of partitions, the integration of glass walls, and a complete upgrade of technical systems enhance transparency, comfort, and sustainability, while strictly respecting the historic fabric.
This renovation exemplifies a pragmatic and responsible approach: reusing, transforming, and extending rather than replacing. A project that brings together heritage conservation, technical innovation, and the well-being of users.
