EPFL - Double Deck Project Celebrates Construction Milestone
The Double Deck project, which is transforming the Esplanade and the Coupole at the heart of the EPFL campus, reached a new milestone with its topping-out ceremony held on October 16, 2026. The event marks the completion of the building's structural framework and reflects the steady progress of the construction works.
A Symbolic Moment
Bringing together the project teams, the client representatives, design consultants, and partner contractors, the event provided an opportunity to recognize the work accomplished since construction began.
Several speeches highlighted the ceremony, including remarks by Frédéric Tesse, Civil Engineering Project Manager at EPFL, and Ali Nejjar, Construction Manager at IB. They emphasized the strong collaboration among all project stakeholders and the importance of this transformation for the future of the campus.
Construction will now continue through the next phases, gradually shaping the future spaces that will welcome users when they open for the 2027 academic year.
