New commission for the construction of Dock A at Zurich Airport
IB in collaboration with BIG, has been commissioned as general planner for the project Dock A of Zurich Airport! IB is responsible for the construction management and, together with BIG, for the overall management of the project in all phases.
The project competition for the new Dock A terminal building with tower and dock base was won by a planning team led by BIG. The 500-metre-long new building is designed as a timber structure. The roof of the new dock and the dock base is clad in photovoltaic shingles and will cover around two-thirds of the building's annual electricity requirements. The new terminal building will be realised over the next 10 years, while the terminal remains in operation.
