On National Future Careers Day, we offered interested girls and boys in grades 5-7 the opportunity to get to know IB's professions at our various locations. In Zurich, the students were able to visit the facade renovation project of the “Nord 2” building at the University Hospital Zurich, which will be completed next spring. In Basel, they took part in a meeting of specialist planners and experienced how an internal meeting in the area of planning is conducted. Sketching and drawing a 3D house in CAD were also on the program.
In Bern and Lausanne, the students took part in a station run: they were able to try out technical drawing by hand and in CAD. However, they particularly liked model making. A spontaneous survey of the participants at the end of the day showed that they were tired but satisfied, because their expectations for the day had been fully met. They had gained an insight into an architecture firm and could now better imagine what the everyday life of a draughtsman/woman EFZ architecture looks like.
Thanks lot to our apprentices and the employees at IB who made this program possible!
