Iconic Awards

We are thrilled to have received two honors at the Iconic Awards.

The Gloriarank temporary sports hall on the University of Zurich campus was named the winning project in the “Circular Design” category by an international panel of experts and also received the prestigious “Best of Best” distinction in the “Architecture” category.

A total of around 560 projects from 40 countries were submitted.
Professor Daniel Blum, Karina Hüssner, Head of Business Development, and Linn Birwe from the Acquisition team accepted the awards on behalf of all IB employees at the ceremony in Munich.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the project—your contributions made this success possible!

We are delighted with the jury's reasoning:

"It is not unusual for buildings to be designed to be used for only a limited period of time. Such temporary buildings are, however, rarely designed with a façade that looks as permanent as the three-storey Gloriarank temporary sports hall. For the next ten years, it is going to be used as a sports facility for the University of Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and the Rämibühl Cantonal School. The architectural firm Itten+Brechbühl worked with Hector Egger Gesamtdienstleistung on the project, which used a modular and reversible timber construction approach. The team is demonstrating a new concept in the design of temporary sports halls. For a temporary building, this is a very large structure."
