IB wins competition for new Bruderholz Hospital with Team HRS
HRS, as total contractor, and the IB team of architects have won the competition for the partial new construction of the Kantonsspital Baselland (KSBL) hospital on the Bruderholz site. We would like to thank our project team, HRS, and everyone else involved for their outstanding work.
The “Beletage” project aims to create a hospital as a house of life – not just a modern healthcare facility, but also a home for healing, community, and well-being. With its well-thought-out architecture, integration of nature, and patient-oriented rooms, the new Bruderholz Hospital is set to become a symbol of hope and excellence for future generations.
The jury report particularly praised the connection system to the existing building, the zoning of the wards, and the access. The proposed polygonal floor plan of the structure allows for flexible development, and the concentrated arrangement of the access and supply cores provides plenty of scope for future changes. In addition, “the existing facility (...) is taken into account to a high degree, while at the same time (...) the additions increase biodiversity and create functional added value.”
The plans and models of the winning project will be on public display at the KSBL site in Bruderholz and can be viewed from June 25 to 27.
