Care Centre / indoor car park, Bethesda Foundation, Basel
Complex shapes and atmospheric interior
A four-storey care centre is being created on the Bethesda site in Basle with 134 beds. The complex consists of three buildings trapezoidal in their outline. The façade is characterised by clinker brick elements. The window elements which stretch from floor to ceiling, are slightly offset from one floor to the next, encircling the complex shape and holding it together.
The foyer, reception area, cafeteria and administrative area are all situated on the ground floor in the wing next to the hospital. The second wing houses a residential care unit with twelve beds as well as a multipurpose room and an activation room.
Each care unit is designed such that it can cater for those requiring normal care or dementia patients. The residential department on the top floor has 20 large rooms with a private outdoor area.
