1st prize in the architectural competition «Neubau Bahnhof Bulle» (New railway station Bulle)
Halter wins the 1st prize in the architectural competition for the new Bulle railway station. IttenBrechbühl are responsible as architects, in cooperation with Strata Architecture. The new building will comprise 6,000 m2 of commercial space, an 80-room hotel, 75 apartments and 275 parking spaces. Construction is scheduled to start in autumn 2019 and the building will be commissioned in December 2021.
Last Friday, 9 November 2018, the Freiburg Public Transport (TPF) unveiled the result of the competition for the new Bulle station building. The project is the most significant part of the new quarter in the centre of Bulle and will upgrade the current TPF industrial wasteland. According to the jury, Halter's solution largely fits into Bulle's various identity and urban features. The jury chose this project because of its "remarkable organisational and aesthetic qualities" from the submissions of the three finalists. In particular, it brings the purpose of the new station building in line with the neighbouring elements, such as the new railway infrastructure and the new station square. "Its architectural part blends harmoniously into its surroundings and at the same time offers the potential to create a new urban landmark".
The trend-setting building consists of a two-storey foundation for commercial activities, on which two L-shaped buildings rise, forming a courtyard planted with plants and open to the surrounding landscape. The two upper floors will house offices and high-quality rental apartments, supplemented by an upscale three-star hotel with 80 rooms. An underground car park with 275 parking spaces is planned in the basement.
