Competition new construction Campus FH Berne
The area of the future campus of the University of Applied Sciences of Berne is characterized by space-determining caesuras, which leave little room for evolvement. The answer is the construction of an introverted, open building on the southern construction site and a pavilion-like solitary building on the north construction site in the park.
In the south the volumetry of the school complex is staggered and interlocked, while in the north the building is defined by calm and clarity. The incisions in the upper floors divide the main building into individual segments according to the different uses. At the same time, the monumentality of the large volumetry is reduced.
The heterogeneity of the building is broken up by the façade. Rhythmic metal bands unfold a dynamic interplay of proportion, light and shadow, while the north building follows a calm façade pattern.
On the northern construction site, a pavilion-like solitary building for a library and further education, surrounded by the green of the park, is being constructed, a place for individual learning and exchange.
